Neighborhood Guides
"Luxury" looks different depending on what you value — walkable prestige, wooded privacy, resort amenities, or established character. Here's a guide to some of the Houston area's most sought-after neighborhoods and who each one suits.
River Oaks — the classic address
Houston's most prestigious neighborhood, developed in the 1920s and still the standard for gracious living. Expect grand, tree-lined boulevards, historic and contemporary estates, and some of the finest shopping and dining in Texas at the River Oaks District — all minutes from downtown. Homes range from condos under $1M to estates of $14M+. (See my River Oaks page.)
Memorial — wooded privacy in west Houston
Known for large, wooded lots, established homes, and the prestigious Memorial Villages. Most of the area is zoned to highly regarded Spring Branch ISD, with quick access to the Energy Corridor, CityCentre, and downtown. Prices generally run from the $700s into the multi-millions depending on lot and village.
Sienna — resort-style master-planned living
If you want amenities and space, Sienna in Missouri City delivers: golf, lakes, pools, trails, and strong Fort Bend ISD schools, about 30 minutes from downtown. A wide price range makes it accessible at more entry points than the inner-loop enclaves. (See my Sienna page.)
Oak Forest & Garden Oaks — established character
Just north of the Loop, these adjacent neighborhoods offer tree-lined streets, generous lots, and a mix of historic bungalows, mid-century ranches, and striking new builds. Great for buyers who want inner-loop-adjacent charm and community. Prices run from around $350K to $2M+. (See my Oak Forest page.)
How to choose
Start with your non-negotiables — commute, schools, lot size, walkability — then weigh lifestyle. A polished streetscape in River Oaks and a lakeside trail in Sienna are both "luxury," just different lives. I'm happy to talk it through and show you a few in person.
